Welcome to Mokotakan!
Mokotakan means “crooked knife” in attikamekw language: it was one of the essential tools in the everyday life of the Native nomads.
Our site retraces the Native presence dating back more than 5000 years thanks to the recreation of different buildings of the 11 Native nations of the province of Quebec.
The purpose of this site is to share and interpret Native culture.
A guided tour allows you to learn more about their way of life, their culture, their history and their spirituality.
This site has been created by one man’s passion for native culture and wouldn’t exist today without the help of all the Natives who from near and far have contributed, still contribute or will contribute to what the site stands for today. The initiator of Mokotakan, Mario Therrien thanks them very much for their help!
Enjoy your visit!
